Catalog description

This course is an introductory study of the basic processes leading to thebiodiversity of life from the organismal to ecosystem level of organization. An in-depth study of natural selection and evolution will serve as the context for thestudy of the biodiversity of major groups of living organisms and theirphylogenetic relationships. The course will also cover central themes in ecologyfrom population and community structure to geochemical cycling in thebiosphere. Designed for science majors. (3 hrs. lecture, 3 hrs. laboratory) Note:(1) Fulfills SUNY-GE Natural Science. (2) BIO155 was previously BIO252.Prerequisite: BIO150 with a C or better.
