Anatomy and Physiology I

Anatomy and Physiology I is the first part of a two-course sequence in which thebasic principles of the structure and function of the human body are discussed indepth. The topics covered include the study of human body plan andorganization, homeostasis, chemistry and cell biology, histology, theintegumentary system, the skeletal system and articulations, the muscularsystem, the nervous system and special senses. An emphasis is placed on theinterrelationships among the body systems and the regulation of the physiologyinvolved in maintaining homeostasis. Special attention is given to the applicationof these principles and concepts to health-related areas. Note: Fulfills SUNY-GENatural Sciences. (3 hrs. lecture, 3 hrs. laboratory) Prerequisite: MAT007 orequivalent and AP Biology (3 or higher within last 5 years), high school biology(85 or higher within the last 5 years) or BIO101, BIO105 or BIO150, with aminimum grade of C or permission by department. Recommended: CHE100 orequivalent.
