Fuel Injection and Engine EmissionSystems

Catalog description

Combustion by-products contained in gasoline engine exhaust: carbonmonoxide, oxides of nitrogen, unburned hydrocarbons, oxygen. Focus onsystems used in vehicles to control these emissions. Students learn proceduresand accurate specifications necessary to achieve desired vehicle emissions,including driveability diagnosis. Environmental rules and regulations and theirimpact on automotive repair industry discussed. (offered fall semester only) (2hrs. lecture, 2 hrs. laboratory) Prerequisite: AUT112, AUT113, and AUT118.
