This course will cover the theory, maintenance, repair, and diagnosis of modemautomotive braking systems. Laboratory procedures will include an in-depthstudy of the removal, disassembly, inspection, rebuilding, overhauling,installation, adjustment and the diagnosis of the automotive brake componentsand related assemblies. Major topics to include: hydraulic, pneumatic andmechanical, electrical and electronic components of the brakes of an automobile.The use of appropriate service information, tools and equipment will beemphasized. This course provides basic theory and hands-on experiencesrequired for successful completion of the ASE area (A5) Brakes certificationexam. (offered fall semester only) (2 hrs. lecture, 2 hrs. laboratory) Noprerequisite.
