This course seeks to introduce the student to those topics that students aretraditionally fascinated with, but are only briefly mentioned in AST102: Astronomyof Stars and Galaxies, such as Einstein's theories of relativity, the possibility andlimits of time travel, exotic star death, the origin and nature of black holes andwhere they reside, the origins and possible scenarios for the death of theuniverse and the speculative evidence for the existence of the multiverse, andshow how these ideas have come about from the work of Albert Einstein. Note:Fulfills SUNY-GE Natural Sciences. (3 hrs. lecture, 2 hrs. laboratory)Prerequisite: MAT007 or equivalent.
