Catalog description
Introduction to ceramic materials and processes through artistic creation ofsculptural and utilitarian forms while exploring multiple cultural and physicalfunctions in ceramic art. Students will be introduced to a variety of hand-buildingtechniques that may include, but are not limited to pinch, coil, slab, solidmodeling and hollowing techniques. Students will also learn various surfaceapplications for their ceramic projects. Emphasis is placed on creativedevelopment of form and surface using clay and glazes, as well as skilldevelopment and craftsmanship. Note: Fulfills SUNY-GE The Arts. (1 hr. lecture,4 hrs. studio) No prerequisite.
