American Art and Society

Catalog description

Survey of a wide range of art, visual, and material culture such as paintings,sculptures, architecture, photography, video, fashion, performances, billboards,pamphlets, ceramics, quilts, and much more, to study both the aesthetics andexpressions of American culture. Firmly grounding the objects in their timeperiods, this course will look at how art, visual and material culture shape and areshaped by social issues of the day. Note: Fulfills SUNY-GE Diversity, SUNY-GEHumanities, and SUNY-GE The Arts. No prerequisite.
