Catalog description

This course provides a foundational understanding of nursing principles and skills essential for entry-level practical nursing practice. Students will develop the knowledge and abilities to contribute effectively to the healthcare team, address diverse patient needs, and foster lifelong professional growth. Course content encompasses the nursing process, patient-centered care, safety, infection prevention, communication, and cultural competency. Students will explore topics such as medical terminology, medication administration, patient education, and critical thinking skills. A strong emphasis is placed on developing a patient-centered approach to care, incorporating evidence-based practices, and adhering to professional standards. Course Residency Requirement This course is not eligible for transfer credit and must be taken at Strayer.
