The course also offers an introduction to canonical and experimental film and video with attention to how film and video technologies influence artistic practice. Students will gain a basic familiarity with the techniques and terminology of film production and film analysis. The course emphasizes critical viewing and writing, with attention to cinematography, editing, sound, special effects, narrative, authorship, genre, and ideology.
