Catalog description

This course provides students with an introduction to the sub-discipline of science communication. Students will learn about the theoretical underpinnings of the field and study how social scientists investigate science communication questions; students will also be introduced to the humanist dimension of science communication research. Students will also be exposed to the practitioner side of science communication and will work collaboratively to brainstorm novel messages and campaign solutions to complex science communication challenges. Students will become familiar with interpreting science communication research and understand how to apply these empirical findings in real world applications.
