SUST 3310NATURAL RESOURCE POLICY AND LAW

Catalog

The course provides a detailed examination of the legal, political, and economic factors that shape our use of, and impact on, natural resources. In addition, throughout the course, we will engage the moral, ethical, and philosophical perspectives and issues that shape our use and conservation of these resources. In particular, we will focus on two general areas of resource management: First, land use and planning, including grazing, forestry, water rights, mineral and energy extraction, and management of public lands; and, second, we will look at wildlife management and species conservation policy, including an in depth review of the endangered species act and it's applications.
