FOOD ACCESS AND SOCIAL POLICY

Catalog description

This course covers an overview of the history of social policy in America, how philosophical thought and ideology influence how policy is crafted, how federal, state, and agency policies surrounding access to food are constructed, how they can be analyzed, and how they affect marginalized populations. It uses the social work, economic, public health and political lenses to examine the intent and effect of American food policy. The course will combine a general exploration of policy and a targeted exploration of access to food in Atlantic County.
