Catalog description

This course explores the meaning, role, and place of popular culture in mass society. It includes discussion of several theories (e.g., structural-functionalism, critical approaches, symbolic interaction, and globalization) and various forms of American popular culture, which may include film, television, music, sports, social media, fast food, automobiles, tattoos, clothing and fashion, and popular literature such as romance novels and young-adult fiction.
