Catalog description
This Comparative Politics seminar introduces students to theories of contentious politics to understand why people mobilize and exert pressure on their governments outside of formal institutions and options for their participation and engagement. We will analyze country case studies to examine violent and nonviolent forms of resistance to discuss how actors outside of the state exercise their power through protest, political violence, and mass mobilization.
