This introductory-level Comparative Politics course introduces students to this subfield of political science, where we study what happens within countries. Students will learn about different political units, actors, movements, institutions, processes, and systems in countries around the world. The goal of this course is to familiarize students with the concepts and analytical tools that are essential to understand the structures and processes of politics of other countries. Students will become familiar with a variety of political institutions including presidencies, parliaments, courts, party systems, electoral systems, civil societies, bureaucracies, etc.
