Catalog description

Course Description: Foundational knowledge and understanding of research design and analysis along with critical appraisal of the literature is continued from EBP I. Examination of diagnostic and intervention outcome assessments will be discussed through a statistical background as it relates to common clinical practice, using examples of musculoskeletal clinical cases. Emphasis will be placed on acquisition of methods and techniques for extending the scientific base of knowledge for ethical physical therapy practice. Research studies which address questions of impact on rehabilitation will serve as the focus for discussion. This course will continue the study of clinical reasoning using the Patient/Client Management Model and the International Classification of Function as the framework for decision making. You will learn about the basis and purpose of reflective practice, research and theory development in physical therapy. You will use sources of knowledge, critical concepts and theories of measurement and research, and evidence based practice as a method for higher level clinical decision making and appraise its application to patient care. Enrollment in the Physical Therapy Program at Stockton University and successful completion of all previous DPT coursework is required.
