Catalog description

What is it that leads people to be religious, to remain religious, to change one's religion, to leave it? To seek alternatives to it? This course examines the religious impulse in its varied forms across many cultures and millennia. The most influential religions-- Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam--will be studied. So also will other both earlier and later manifestations of the religious experience.
