Catalog description

This course examines the relation between Church and State in American Society. It looks at the history of this relationship from the colonial period through the ratification debates and into the present day focusing especially on those Supreme court decision that have changed the nature of Church-State interactions. We will then ask the deeper questions: Should there, and can there be, a wall of separation between church and State?
