Catalog description

This seminar format course is a forum of intellectual exchange that provides students with the opportunity to critically think about and evaluate the professional nurse in practice today with a focus on leadership management and change agent roles. This course will explore nursing history and its evolution as a profession; the struggles, successes, and controversies that have embodied the profession; and the challenges, issues and trends that currently affect and are affected by it. Students will examine their own experience in incorporating gender, ethnicity, and social class issues in practice as well as apply ethical decision making, political activism and professional problem solving skills.
