Catalog description
Prerequisite: NURS 4901, NURS 3241, and NURS 3334.The focus of this course is on the promotion of health and prevention of illness of individuals and families with consideration given to the issues of gender, race, class and ethnicity. The course prepares nurses to meet the challenges posed by the changing health needs of society. Emphasis will be placed on the continued development of critical thinking skills. Ethical issues involved in all specialty areas will be addressed. Group theory and dynamics and family systems theory will be discussed and analyzed. Selected topics from women’s health, childbearing, psychosocial issues, adult health and gerontics will be studied from a systems perspective.
