Prerequisite: All freshmen and sophomore nursing classes, NURS 3901.Using the Roy Adaptation Model as a theoretical framework for understanding mental health stressors, students study the foundations of mental health nursing. Neurology, therapeutic approaches, mental disorders, neurobehavioral brain disorders, substance-related disorders and dysinhibition syndromes will provide the cognitive foundation for safe and effective practice. Therapeutic communication, cultural diversity, psychopharmacology, and ethical issues are integrated when delivering care to clients across the life span.Faculty: Nursing Faculty
