Catalog description

This course is an introduction to the technology used to study marine ecosystems, including Human operated vehicles (HOVs), remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and autonomous vehicles (AUVs). DNA technology used to study marine ecosystems will also be introduced. This course will focus in large part on the design, construction, and functioning of underwater robots, and will include hands-on experience in ROV construction. This course has a required service learning component involving mentoring middle school or high school students in building their own ROVs.
