Open only to MAHG Graduate Students.This course will examine the challenge-some say the "problem"- of responses to catastrophe. Works written and created by Jewish and non-Jewish survivors, as well as those more removed from the immediate events, will be read. One focus of this course will be to consider the often repeated insistence that silence is the only proper response to the horror of the Shoah.
