Catalog description

Open only to MAHG Graduate Students. What constitutes the study of Women during the Holocaust? What makes it important? What can we gain from studying it? Gender and sexuality played a key role in Nazi ideology, in antisemitism, in gay and lesbian persecution, in sexual abuse of Jewish women, and shaping the activities and actions of perpetrators, resisters, rescuers, and bystanders. Scholarly books and articles from across disciplines, including literature, memoirs, and other primary and secondary sources will be employed in this online course to help us study and discuss Women during the Holocaust.
