Catalog description
This course traces the history of anti-semitism from the emergence of Christianity as a Jewish sect to the present. Particular attention will be given to the penetration and diversification of anti-Jewish myths and stories in Europe during the medieval period as well as the development of "modern" forms of anti-semitism from the nineteenth century onward that provided the foundation for the Holocaust. Other recent variants of anti-semitism, including political anti-semitism in recent decades, will also be addressed.
