1900-present Course, Literary Interpretation Course and Ethnic/Postcolonial Course. How are political and social developments treated in films and novels? This class will show how visual and written texts often express real social change and conflict; how they contribute both to social memory, and to the construction of political identities. We will discuss these ideas through reading and watching a series of visual and written texts that deal with the political themes of capitalism, socialism, colonialism and feminism.
