RESEARCH FOR THE HEALTH SCIENCES

Catalog description

This course introduces students to concepts in health research such as ethics, quantitative and qualitative research methods, systematic literature review, evidence-based practices, collaborative research practices, and data interpretation. Significant emphasis is placed in the development of understanding of the research process, critical evaluation of evidence, and application of these skills to Evidence-Based Practices (EBP). The purpose of this course is for students to become good consumers of health research. At the end of the course, students will discern between reliable and unreliable scientific evidence, adopt professional knowledge and practices based on solid empirical evidence, and understand the role of research in evidence-based practice.
