Prerequisite: Permission of Instructor required.Historical consciousness course (H).This project requires students to read assigned texts on historical research Methodology and carry out independent research to prepare a prospectus for their senior thesis project scheduled for a following semester. The course assignments and the final prospectus essay require the use of primary sources, research and discussion of key secondary historiography, the use of quantitative sources and analysis, and excellence in essay organization and prose writing. Completion of the course research prospectus is a requirement for the admission to HIST 4691 Thesis Seminar or HIST 4850 BA/MA Thesis. With permission of instructor, this course may be substituted for HIST 4690 History Methods in fulfillment of the requirements for Historical Studies major.Faculty: STAFF
