Catalog description

This course will examine the Greco-Persian Wars of the early 5th century BCE. Through a close-reading of both primary (ancient texts) and secondary sources (modern critiques), students will analyze how the wars affected the political, religious, economic, social, and cultural climates of the time period and its longer-lasting effects on the development of Greek city-states, specifically Athens and Sparta.
