This course focuses on exchange of ideas, culture, and peoples in the Atlantic from the perspectives of Africans and peoples of African descent. It recognizes the transformative implications of the colonial period and slavery on notions of power, identity, race, sexuality, gender relations, community, and the (in)visible in the black experience.
