Historical consciousness course (H).This course examines the inter-relationship between Jews, Muslims and Christians in the Middle East. Each group will be examined from the vantage point of being a minority within a predominantly "other" society. Using comparative examples from medieval Spain, northern Europe, the Byzantine Empire, and the dynasties and states of the Middle East will enable an examination of identity, legal status, economic role, communal governance, family life and cultural developments of each group.Faculty: T.
