Catalog description

We will observe, study, and analyze the things that surround us in the mass media and other types of popular culture: pop icons, television, advertising, tabloid and mainstream periodicals, recorded music, music videos, etc. Because this is a Writing Intensive course, expect a series of essays of varying lengths and rhetorical modes; final grades depend on the quality of students' writing. To comply with Honors College guidelines, students will also be reading two novels and working on individual and group presentation/writing in addition to essays of varying rhetorical modes. This course also complies with Honors College guidelines in its expectation of intellectual curiosity and rigorous academic discipline.
