Catalog description

This course is an introductory study of mysticism in the world religions. It provides the student with a theory of mysticism and surveys of its main contours in Hinduism, Buddhism, Chinese and Japanese religions, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and the traditional religious cultures of oral people in North America, Latin America, Australia and Africa. This course attempts to suggest that how one may think about mysticism has implications for one's own life.
