Catalog description

Excessive-use-of-force incidents during riots dominate headlines nowadays, but the question is of how police should behave during a protest has not been clarified yet. From this perspective, the relations between protest crowd and police is the primary focus of this course. It will introduce students to the phenomena of protest, demonstration and civil disobedience, ideological/economical motivations for people to engage in protests, and the control of crowds during protests.
