GSS 2150
WRITING FOR THE WORKPLACE
Stockton University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course serves as an introduction to the kind of written discourse expected in the 21st century work environment. We focus on the three Cs of workplace writing: clarity, conciseness, and correctness. We look at writing as a rational as well as creative process and examine the culture of the American workplace in determining a writer's rhetorical strategy. Students will gain practice constructing email memos, formal letters, resumes, cover letters, and electronic proposals. Assignments require analysis of workplace cultures and the psychology of writing to different audiences. Students who lack confidence as writers are as welcome as those who love to write.
