Catalog description

This is a First Year Seminar. Food is central to our lives, yet rarely do we consider the impact of our food choices on society or the ways in which society influences our relationship to food. This course examines the often-conflicting roles of politics, psychology and science on a number of food related issues such as cultural identity of food, the global obesity epidemic, concerns about food safety, food aid and subsidies.
