Open only to freshmen.This is a freshman seminar.Values/Ethics course.(V)This course will look at college culture and social life in both historical and contemporary perspective. The goal is to develop a deeper understanding of the beliefs and values behind a liberal arts education, and to effect a successful transition into college. The course will be comprised of four parts: test and film discussion of college culture; cross-college fieldwork in Stockton to discover the significant cultural/social focal points; in-depth fieldwork in one cultural/social area of the college; and an on-line blog/diary documenting the freshman year experience. Students will be expected to attend at least four campus events, such as concerts, lectures, or plays and discuss them on their blogs. In addition, faculty, administration, staff, and students will present guest lectures throughout the term.Faculty: J. RUBENSTEIN
