Catalog description

Prerequisite: High school or college level biology.Values/ethics course (V).This course will focus on bioethical issues raised by advances in biology and medicine. This course will survey the theory and philosophy required to evaluate and resolve moral dilemmas in biology and medicine. Representative topics will include scientific inquiry, ethos, ethical argument, abortion, surrogate pregnancy, genetic research, euthanasia, informed consent in medical experiments, and racism in research.
