Catalog description

This course investigates and analyzes games and puzzles from a mathematical perspective. While the games covered vary semester to semester, they are chosen from the following mathematical topics: combinatorial game theory, combinatorics, probability theory, and graph theory. In past semesters, the following games and puzzles have been covered: NIM, Mastermind, anagram style games (like Scrabble), casino style games (like Craps and Blackjack), knight's tours, and the bridges of Koenigsberg.
