Catalog description

Many fascinating topics of numbers will be covered to attract students to mathematics and to give students the experience of thinking logically and abstractly in mathematics. Counting, divisibility, primes, factorization, modular arithmetic and public-key cryptography, for example, are some interesting topics to study. The main purpose of this course is two-fold: the students will gain the ability of quantitative reasoning, and the students will appreciate the beauty of mathematics."
