Prerequisite: GNM 1125 or equivalent.Quantitative Reasoning Intensive Course (Q1)The overall course approach is to learn methods of constructing mathematical models to explain and appreciate the world around us. The essential skills presented include abstraction from reality to a descriptive model; and the evaluation of both the model and the results derived from its application. Students will learn how to apply basic models to study such topics as risk (cost benefit) analysis, public health and epidemiology, environmental protection and energy conservation; government budgets, biogenetic and pharmaceutical research, inflation, unemployment and international trade.Faculty: E.
