Catalog description

This course explores the development of mathematics beginning with ancient counting systems up through modern mathematics. Topics may include prime numbers, the Fibonacci sequence, Diophantine equations, Napier’s Rods, and solving the cubic. Students will gain a broad understanding of mathematics as a human endeavor, emphasizing historical and social contexts alongside mathematical concepts.
