EXPLORING THE DEEP SEA

Catalog description

This course is an overview of the ecology of deep-sea hydrothermal vents, and the ways in which these environments two miles below the surface of the sea are studied. We will explore what is known about these undersea hot springs, and the diversity of life that is supported by the chemicals flowing through them. The technology used to study these extreme environments will also be highlighted.
