Catalog description

Important issues are at stake in an America of growing disparity between rich and poor and an increasingly global workforce. Readings in law, history and social sciences help us understand the historically important role that labor unions have played in American life – since 1935 we have had a national policy in favor of organized labor – and our present era when less than 15% of the labor force is organized into labor unions. Literary and film narratives also shape our understanding of the world and will provide another lens through which to view organized labor.
