Catalog description

Open to juniors and seniors only. The purpose of this course is to survey cross cultural perspective on female life history while learning about the biology of the female life cycle. The course will begin with a discussion of male and female reproductive biology and then turn to a discussion of how different cultures categorize the stages in the lives of females. We will than go through the biology of each life stage and compare beliefs and attitudes about each stage across cultures. Most importantly, we will attempt to determine the major issues facing women across cultures relative to specific portions of the life cycle.Faculty: M. Lewis
