Catalog description

This course explores human consciousness from physiological, sociological, artistic/expressive and philosophical perspectives. We will examine the characteristics of consciousness as well as the various components of mental life. Evolutionary and sociological interpretations will be interwoven with current findings from the biomedical and psychological communities in our discussion of the continuum of consciousness and its implications for human potential. The goal of the course is for you to take an active role in exploring this topic and become able to integrate scientific and philosophical perspectives into understanding your own experience.
