EVOLUTION, RELIGION AND THE NATURAL WORLD

Catalog description

This course investigates the science of Darwinian thought and also its ethical and religious implications. We begin with the Bible's Genesis, turn next to Darwin's Origin of Species, and also read other, more recent texts about religion and evolution. In weekly field trips we investigate the campus and nearby locales. In what ways do science and religion conflict with each other? Can the two visions be one? And what is your personal perspective? How do you understand the natural world and how humans have come to occupy this planet?
