Catalog description
Open only to juniors and seniors. This is a writing course (W1). A course in autobiographical writing and reading that examines the personal and professional lives of others—scientists, philosophers, soldiers, housewives, and poets—identifying themes for understanding self. Questions to be considered: How do family background, social mores, and historical events shape an individual? How do emotional and creative energies determine interests and achievements? Students will keep journals integrating the life experience of others with their own and finding themes and forms for their own autobiographical essays, poems, and stories. Faculty: L. Nelson
