Catalog description

Open only to juniors and seniors.Arts course (A).This course deals with the interface between landscape formation science, the hazards and resources each landscape possesses, and what meaning people attribute to each landscape. We will cover such landscapes as mountains, forests, rivers, etc. We will use satellite and aerial photographs, landscape paintings from the 17th through 20th centuries; classical, popular, and folk music; and works of literature such as folk tales, epics, poems, and novels. The overall purpose is to experience landscapes from many artistic and scientific viewpoints.Faculty: C. EPSTEIN
