EVOLUTIONARY PSYCHOLOGY

Open only to juniors and seniors.Evolutionary psychology is the intersection of evolutionary biology and cognitive psychology. The fundamental question of the field is: Are there aspects of human behavior that are determined, to some extent, by evolutionary biology? An evolutionary psychology approach has been used to examine a variety of aspects of human behavior including: dating and mating, altruistic behavior (or lack thereof), group dynamics, our aesthetic sense, and even the human propensity for spirituality and religion. This course will touch on these topics and others in an attempt to explore both the limits of discipline and its broader implications.Faculty: T. HARESIGN
